Content Description Per NFPA's requirements, when purchasing NFPA 2021 Standards and/or 2020 NFPA 70 (NEC), you must subscribe to at least one more NFPA Standard to complete your purchase. In order to fulfill this requirement, we automatically add 2019 NFPA 900 to your cart. This title may be removed during checkout if you choose to add a different NFPA standard to your cart, and pricing will be recalculated accordingly.
The 2017 edition of NFPA 501 helps you maximize safety for manufactured housing with updates to the industry accepted practices.
NFPA 501: Standard on Manufactured Housing covers all the equipment and installations used in the design, construction, transportation, fire safety, plumbing, heat-producing, and electrical systems of manufactured homes.
The Standard covers virtually every aspect of safety. To be more comprehensive, the previous edition added requirements on safe rooms to provide a safe area for occupants of manufactured housing in areas prone to hurricanes, tornados, and other natural disasters. Requirements on water mist sprinkler systems reference the 2016 edition of NFPA 13D: Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes.
Update to the 2017 edition for the latest safeguards.
A new requirement for total smoke released provides an optional measurement where smoke limitations are desired.
The test for cellulose loose-fill insulation specifies CAN/ULC S102.2 because it has been shown that cellulose loose-fill insulation cannot be tested appropriately using ASTM E84 or UL 723.
Requirements in 5.8.2.3.1 and 5.8.2.3.2 have been removed to avoid redundancy with NFPA 275.
NFPA 750 was removed as a reference because it is not an approved automatic sprinkler system and has not been proved to be equivalent to any of the NFPA 13
References and extracts are appropriately updated.
Manufacturers, installers, and AHJs can depend on the 2017 edition of NFPA 501 for up-to-date requirements that help ensure the continued safety of manufactured housing.
