Description of BS AU 50-2.8a:1985 1995

This Section of BS AU 50-2 gives recommendations for vehicle manufacturers on the initial steps to be taken in selecting wheels for passenger cars (including caravans and light trailers) and recommendations on the care of wheels for the user. A description of the principal types of wheels and attachments, the sequence of attachment stud tightening and checking procedures to be carried out when fitting wheels to vehicles is also given.

NOTE 1 Appendix A gives the principal types of wheels and Appendix B the principal types of rims used in the UK. For further details see BS AU 50-2.0, BS AU 50-2.1 and BS AU 50-2.5.

The requirements of BS AU 50-2.1 for passenger car rims will be superseded by BS AU 50-4.2, which will be published on completion of work now progressing in ISO (the International Organization for Standardization).
