Description of ASTM-D1786 2010ASTM D1786 - 10Standard Specification for Toluene DiisocyanateActive Standard ASTM D1786 | Developed by Subcommittee: D20.22 Book of Standards Volume: 08.01 ASTM D1786Abstract This specification covers toluene diisocyanate used as an ingredient in the production of polyurethane cellular materials. The three classes of toluene diisocyanate covered in this specification are based on isomer ratio, and the three types are based on acidity and hydrolyzable chloride. Materials shall be tested and the individual grades shall conform to specified values of isomer ratio, purity, APHA color, and total chlorine. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. 1. Scope 1.1 This specification covers toluene diisocyanate used as an ingredient in the production of polyurethane materials. Note 1The properties included in this specification are those required to characterize toluene diisocyanate. Other requirements are possible and will be added as the necessary test methods become available. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Note 2There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.
