Description of ASTM-B423 2011ASTM B423 - 11Standard Specification for Nickel-Iron-Chromium-Molybdenum-Copper Alloy (UNS N08825, N08221, and N06845) Seamless Pipe and TubeActive Standard ASTM B423 | Developed by Subcommittee: B02.07 Book of Standards Volume: 02.04 ASTM B423Abstract This specification covers nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloys (UNS N08825 and UNS N08221) in the form of cold-worked and hot-finished seamless pipe and tube intended for general corrosive service. Material furnished under this specification shall conform to the applicable requirements specified. Chemical composition limits of the material such as nickel, chromium, iron, manganese, carbon, copper, silicon, sulfur, aluminum titanium, and molybdenum shall conform to the chemical requirements of this specification. Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the material under the specified condition and size shall also conform to the required mechanical properties. Hydrostatic and nondestructive electric tests shall be performed. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. ASTM does not give any warranty express or implied or make any representation that the contents of this abstract are accurate, complete or up to date. 1. Scope 1.1 This specification covers nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloys (UNS N08825, N08221, and N06845) in the form of cold-worked and hot-finished seamless pipe and tube intended for general corrosive service. The general requirements for pipe and tube are covered in Specification B829 . 1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.3 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 9, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to become familiar with all hazards including those identified in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for this product/material as provided by the manufacturer, to establish appropriate safety and health practices, and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
