GKD Metal Fabrics Architectural metal fabric is a dynamic interior and exterior material used to create beautiful and functional façades, balustrades, and screening for a wide variety of commercial and public structures. This course discusses applications for metal fabric and its performance benefits, including safety, security, solar management, and sustainability. It also discusses how coatings and graphics technologies can be incorporated into metal fabrics to enhance branding and visual identity. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how architectural metal fabrics provide solutions for interior and exterior design challenges.
  • Recall the performance benefits of metal fabrics, including safety and security, solar management, and sustainability.
  • Explain how to create branding and visual identity with metal fabrics, including etching, lighting, color, and transparent media façade.
  • Identify ideal applications for the product and review case studies where the material was used.

Faculty BIO

Andy Franks has 15 years' experience of territory management with GKD USA. He has successfully completed projects across most of the US that include many parking garages. He has more than 20 years of construction-related experience. His background comes from both manufacturing and education with many years of representing the manufacturing and construction trades as a certified educator. Over the course of the last seven years, he has provided dozens of AIA CES presentations for architectural firms.
