CEU: 0.1 | CEU Code: RD-EN-114007-0625

Railing systems perform various functions, meeting safety requirements and serving as a key component of a building's aesthetic. This course includes a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of aluminum and structural vinyl railing systems, how they are made, and how they are used in the building industry, including a detailed summary of how they meet various code requirements.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the differences between a guardrail and a handrail and how each is deemed a building code compliant or building code approved system.
  • Review the aesthetics, maintenance attributes, and overall safety and security of aluminum and structural vinyl railing systems.
  • List the additional accessory items and components that are required or complement a safe and secure railing installation.
