Bison Innovative Products Rooftop deck systems offer the design flexibility to create adaptable, sustainable outdoor spaces that provide myriad environmental, social, economic, and aesthetic benefits. This course presents the three pillars of sustainability and how building products, materials, and systems can contribute to sustainable design. It outlines forest management objectives and practices and the responsible sourcing of wood for rooftop deck tiles. Case studies exemplify how rooftop deck systems can contribute to sustainable design objectives. 60 minutes.

Learning Objectives

  • Summarize the three pillars of sustainability and identify how building products, materials, and systems can contribute to sustainable design.
  • Recall programs that monitor, evaluate, and verify product or material performance and sustainability claims.
  • Discuss sustainable forest management objectives and practices that ensure a forest is being managed in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way.
  • State how modular rooftop deck systems contribute to sustainable design goals and may help projects earn certification through LEED v4.1 Building Design and Construction (BD+C): New Construction, SITES v2, and the WELL v2 Building Standard".
