Description of BS ISO 8640-3:2002 2002

This part of ISO 8640 defines terms related to the following types of patterning device used on flat warp knitting machines:

  • lapping devices for warp ends;

  • patterning presser devices;

  • fall plate patterning devices;

  • yarn let-off and yarn tensioning patterning devices;

  • needle bar stopping devices;

  • weft insertion devices;

  • take-up patterning devices.

NOTE 1 The figures in this part of ISO 8640 illustrate the working principles of the various aggregates. They do not represent the only, or even the most common, arrangements. In any case, to the extent technically possible, these devices are able to be combined.

NOTE 2 In addition to terms and definitions used in two of the three official ISO languages (English and French), this part of ISO 8640 gives the equivalent terms and definitions in the German language; these are published under the responsibility of the member body for Germany (DIN). However, only the terms and definitions given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms and definitions.
