ANSI/BHMA standards are the written descriptions and criteria that precisely define the appropriate operation, performance characteristics, physical properties, test values, usage parameters, safety criteria, etc. of specific types of builders hardware products.

BHMA is the only U.S. organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to develop and maintain performance standards for builders hardware. At present there are 34 ANSI/BHMA standards, with several more in development.
